Three times this week
in conversations with
different company executives,
the importance of brevity and clarity
has arisen.
These leaders reached out to me
to inquire about Rock The Room®
programs for their organization.
Among other specifics,
the executives expressed
how frustrating and concerning it was
that certain emerging leaders
and direct reports rambled on
in such a disorganized fashion.
As a result,
others in the company
didn’t want to listen in meetings;
client relationships were being eroded
through subpar presentations;
and critical “biz dev” opportunities
were being missed.
While communication is often
mistakenly considered a “soft” skill,
the fact is that one’s ability to communicate
in a crisp, clear and compelling fashion
directly affects one’s ability to:
- motivate a team or client group
- elevate a brand
- increase the bottom line
- and raise one’s profile.
A popular and apt business phrase I love:
“Be brief; be bright; be gone.”
The next time you write
or speak, remember this.
