Getting back to feeling (instead of thinking) – that’s the path for me. I call it “following the thread of excitement”.
Exactly! That’s a great phrase. Thanks for sharing! – V
So very true, Victoria. A great reminder and thanks for sharing.
Victoria, as always, the timing of this post is perfect and you approached it so well. I am also working on book – my second – and just yesterday felt the struggle of not knowing which tributary / path to follow with it. I was stuck, stuck, stuck! I knew I was not feeling lit up or joyful or enthusiastic about it. So I sat out on my back deck with a cup of coffee and a notebook (I love grid notebooks) and began playing “warmer or colder” with various aspects of the project. Did I want the book to be academic or conversational and fun? (Definitely the latter!) Did I want it to be long or short or in between? (Definitely in between) Did I want it to be textually dense or more visual (Definitely the latter!) On and on I went with this and it got me back on track and into the zone of having fun with it again. It’s so easy to think we have to do things a certain perfect way when really all we have to discover is OUR perfect way.
Thrilled this post came at a great time for you! It sounds like you found a wonderful way to get back on the right path and that it felt right for YOU.
