“Happiness is a job well done.”
– Patricia H. Labalme
This was one of my mother’s
classic lines, and I think of it often.
Whenever you do a task well,
whether it’s washing the dishes,
handling a delicate conversation,
or crushing an important presentation,
it brings a tremendous feeling of satisfaction.
People often ask me
why I work so hard
on every keynote and go beyond
for every coaching client.
Aside from a moral & creative responsibility,
it’s because the happiness that comes
from “a job well done” is hard to beat.
And in a world where so much
may feel beyond our control,
what is in our control is
the quality of our work.
Every time I receive a success story
from a former client,
it means more than I can express.
(The experience and tools last far
beyond the actual coaching moment
represented in the images above.)
Earlier this month, two emails came in
which I wanted to share far below:
one from an executive who was
EVP of Corporate Strategy at Workday
when I coached her 10 years ago.
The other email arrived from
an entrepreneur and leadership expert whom
I coached this fall for a presentation
to an international audience of thousands.
The happiness of their jobs well done
brings me happiness and joy.
Bottom line:
whatever it is you’re doing
at work or in life…do it well.

Nov 5, 2024:
From Leighanne Levensaler, Former EVP, Corporate Strategy, Workday:
“Whether I’m introducing a new software product, presenting a strategic direction, or leading a workshop, I rely on the same tools and techniques I learned from you years ago. In high-stakes moments where I only have one shot, your coaching has proven to be the best investment—for both me and the companies I represent—to change hearts and minds in just a few precious minutes. Working with you profoundly shaped my professional trajectory. You helped me discover my authentic style and voice, empowering me to engage and inspire audiences to take action. Much love – and I mean every word!”
Nov 13, 2024:
From an Entrepreneur & Leadership Expert (name removed to protect confidentiality):
“Thank you so much for your guidance and guardrails and encouragement. I absolutely crushed the speeches today. Over 60 ppl told me it was the best speech of the day – everyone from a young male YouTuber to older male CEOs to entrepreneurs and of course all the women. I freed the statue from the stone, and was natural, engaging, and paced delivering it. After sweating about landing the content for months, I wasn’t even nervous, it was more just fun. Will lead to LOTS of other opportunities. It was one of the best days of my life. Thank you again.”
