There’s a misconception many of us have that
1) a career starts in our adult years
2) that the best careers are fully planned
Hmmm. I’m not so sure that’s true.
Think of some of the best career events that have happened in your life. Were they fully planned or did they EVOLVE and UNFOLD?
If you are a bit adrift…wondering what “razzes your berry” (as I like to say in my show), consider looking back into your childhood. What made you happy back then? What activities did you love doing?
And conversely,
…if you know what you want but are feeling too much of the pressure to “make things happen”, then I encourage you to let things unfold and evolve.
My Alexander Technique teacher who taught me movement (which is very much a metaphor for life), would often say, “Let, allow, permit.” She showed me how in movement, we tend to grab and tense our muscles…and the key was to keep things open and flowing.
And as a child, there were activities you just loved…before you evaluated whether or not you could create a career out of them. And before other people made fun of you. What were those activities?
Rather than try to make things happen, rest assured that what you love is already within. This is the power of The Throughline.
