Last week at our
annual conference for NSA
(National Speakers Association),
we all participated in the
classic board-breaking exercise.
I hadn’t done it in years,
but it is never not amazing.
And powerful.
It’s so easy for any of us to dismiss
the value of a basic exercise
(whatever that may be in your field)
by imagining, “Yehhh, I’ve done that.”
or “I already know that.”
But there’s tremendous value
in returning to core practices
and classic exercises.
Over the course of the conference,
I sat in on scores of sessions
(both mainstage and workshops),
taking notes, listening to
new ideas and perspectives,
and watching presenters in action.
As well, I had multiple 1:1 conversations
with colleagues who asked for input
on their own work and how to take
their speaking skills to the next level
to Rock The Room®.
No matter how advanced you are
in your particular field,
what actions can you take
in the coming weeks and months to
…improve your skills,
…gain new insights,
…and reset your mindset
to move yourself to where you
ultimately want and need to be?
