It’s easy to get pulled “off course”

by pursuing a path, project, or product line

or by doubling down

on a professional or personal skill

simply because you’re “good” at it

…but there’s a price to pay.

It can be costly not only

in terms of your time, energy and talent,

but also in terms of your soul

(or your organization’s soul)

and what you’re truly meant

to contribute to the world.

This story about those crucial choices

is one of my favorites

and involves the famous

photographer, Eliot Porter.

I shared the story on stage

in front of 2000 photographers.
